This Privacy Policy explains what information Social | Spaces (“Social | Spaces,” “we,” “us,” or “the app”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Social | Spaces is a free, push-to-talk app for spontaneous, proximity-based gatherings. By using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
The short version: We collect only what we need to run the service. We don’t sell your data. Your voice is transmitted live to the people in your zone. Your location sharing is in your control and can be turned off. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app.
1. Information we collect and why
Account information (Sign in with Apple)
You create an account using Sign in with Apple. This provides us with a unique account identifier and, if you choose to share it, a name and a relay email address. We use this to create and secure your account and to let you sign back in. We never receive your Apple password.
Display name and profile photo
You may set a display name and a profile photo. These are shown to other people in zones and Spaces so they know who is talking. You control these and can change them.
Microphone and live voice audio
Social | Spaces is a push-to-talk app, so it needs microphone access. When you hold to talk, your voice audio is transmitted live to the people who are in the same zone or Space as you. Audio is captured only while you are actively transmitting. We use audio solely to deliver the live conversation to other participants.
Precise location
Because the app is about being where other people are, it uses your precise location to find zones near you. Simply being present in a zone is private — it does not put you on anyone’s map. When you join a zone’s audio channel, your location becomes visible to everyone on that channel, and your position updates to where you are each time you talk. Some people on a channel may be participating remotely and not physically near you. The app shows you a reminder before you join a channel, and joining is always your choice — if you do not join a channel, your location is not shared with others. With location turned off in system settings, proximity-based features will not be available.
Purchases
If you buy coins or a membership, the transaction is processed by Apple through in-app purchase. We receive a record that a purchase occurred and what was purchased so we can deliver it to your account. We do not receive or store your full payment card details — Apple handles payment.
Diagnostics and analytics
We use Firebase and Google services to operate the app and to collect standard analytics and crash/diagnostic data (for example, app version, device type, anonymous usage events, and crash reports). This helps us keep the app running, fix bugs, and improve the experience.
2. How we use your information
- To operate the core service — creating zones and Spaces, connecting you with nearby people, and delivering live audio.
- To show your display name, photo, and (when you choose) location to other participants in a zone or Space.
- To process and deliver in-app purchases through Apple.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To diagnose problems, fix crashes, and improve the app.
We use your information to operate the service. We do not sell your personal information.
3. How information is shared
- With other users: Your display name, profile photo, live voice while transmitting, and — if you enable it — your location are visible to people in the same zone or Space.
- With service providers: We use infrastructure providers such as Apple, Google, and Firebase to host the service, process purchases, and provide analytics and crash reporting. They process data on our behalf.
- For legal reasons: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the service.
4. Your choices and controls
- Location: You can turn location sharing on or off and control your visibility to others.
- Microphone: Audio is only captured while you hold to talk. You can revoke microphone access in your device settings, though the app needs it to function as a push-to-talk app.
- Profile: You can change or remove your display name and profile photo.
5. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time directly in the app:
Settings → More → Delete my account
Deleting your account removes your profile and associated account data from the service. Some records may be retained where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes, and certain anonymized or aggregated diagnostic data may persist.
6. Data retention
We keep account information for as long as your account is active. Live voice audio is transmitted in real time and is not stored as a recording by the service. We retain purchase records and diagnostic data as needed to operate the service and meet legal obligations.
7. Children
Social | Spaces is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
